Hello! So glad you are here. About me: After receiving my Master of Science Degree in Landscape Design from Columbia University I opened a small firm specializing in creating unique outdoor spaces. In addition to having a landscape design degree I am a huge gardener! Through my garden experience and garden research I learned to appreciate nature, art and science. I am here to share this passion with you. Yuliya :) I garden in Zone 6, Northern New Jersey.

🌸 Plant Haul for Small Garden Project 🌸
Love that window box! We actually use a lot of huge red geraniums in our patio and front door to complement the Nikko Blue hydrangeas and in celebration of Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. In addition, for perennials they last straight through the fall here in our Zone 6B. Love them and love the red
Annuals not Perennials!
Your gardens are absolutely beautiful and so natural looking like they’ve been there forever! I cannot thank you enough for sharing all of your knowledge with us ❤
Yes, finally dividing my dozens of irises doesn’t seem so daunting. I’m going to do it!!!
Did you plant 30" on center?
Hi Yulia, Love your channel! Another fellow North Jersey gardener here :) About how many hours of sun would you say the meadow section is getting?
Thank you
Thanks for the update!
It’s clear how much joy gardening brings you 💕you are infectious. Time for another plant haul😂
Haha, never thought enough plants 😂
Thanks for taking us along. I don’t have good luck with verbenas in containers either.
I think they need more water
It's so good, and want to use it as wall paper
Thank you!
It's so good, and want to use it as
Excellent!
How close do you plant those hydrangers? What type are they?
I’m not a big red fan either but it looks really nice! I have a lot of potted plants underneath a dead elm (it died in Hurricane Ian). I have a huge pot I planted two drift roses in, both are pink. A bird came along and planted a bright red vinca. Vinca does very well here in my zone 10a garden. I now can barely see the drift roses and the bright red vinca has taken over. Truth be told, it looks awesome! Lol. I can’t believe I’m even saying that!😂 It’s a color that shows up well!
I think it will awesome too!
One other point: I understand that milky spore works on Japanese Beetle grubs only. So best to know what you have. They look an awful lot alike if you don't have a high-powered microscope. I must admit I guessed and was lucky.
I used milky spore quite a few years ago (1 time! maybe I didn't read the instructions correctly?). I did a thorough application and it made a huge improvement year by year--I can't remember if I noticed a big difference in one year, but I wouldn't be surprised. At the time, they had tested its efficacy for the length of 10 years, and since the problem went away I sort of quit thinking about it. This year, and it has been more than 10 years, while planting a new bed, I found way too many grubs, plus dry grass that pulled up with no resistance. I'll treat again when it cools down a little (heat dome here). Great product, no idea what brand I used. And GREAT VIDEO, you will have helped so many people!
Sounds great!
How did you get around without driving till your 30’s??
Public transport 😁
Red! Yesssss! It looks beautiful against your house. Thank you! 🪴🌵🌵
Great, very nice ideas🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Did you have the water sitting in the sun while growing the roots? Or just on a counter?
No sun! Bright light is ok tho
Yes! I’ve planted more red this year and I’m loving the bold colors especially in summer. It does look great against your White House!
I love that ‘cameo’ appearance of Michael 😂
The red stems and the darker reds are just perfect to blend all of the colors beautifully! Gaura always adds such a flurry of fun and elegance! I really love this gorgeous window box, Yuliya❣️
Very helpful! Have you discovered any other useful apps since you did this video? Also, any recommendations on software with creating a site survey to scale?
Can't wait to see the window box as everything gets established, it's going to be beautiful !!
Glad you just went for it! ❤ Its beautiful!
This is a nice combination. It takes a lot of skill to mix red and pink and not have it look gaudy. The burgundy and whites complement it well.
True!!!
I just don’t understand why virtually all Popular RUclips Gardener channels promote their dislike of red in the garden. I love it and feel like it makes every thing in the garden pop. My red Lucifer Crocosmia are blooming now and my hummingbirds love it.
I agree a flower is beautiful in any color.love to see red in a garden it's so striking I'm so glad when I see gardners using a variety of colors and not so much matchy matchy colors all the time.
I was just having this conversation with a friend. So many influencers like cool colors - pink, purple , white and pastels. All the garden channels are starting to look the same. I have a hot border. Love crocosmia paired with orange daylilies and rudbeckia.
@@ricksgardendiary absolutely. Not liking that everyone sounds the same.
I can't call it my Lucifer plant by that name. So I call it Lucy. 😅 I'm not a red fan, but my husband is. I plant multiple colors.
Yes, I agree. I just don’t understand it. In my sunny garden insipid pale colors disappear. And comes fall, give all saturated colors! I wish this trend would stop.
I think it's going to be a stunner. Especially with the chartreuse bushes in front of it. Love the vinca color. Your yard is also looking fabulous, looking down from above
Thanks so much!
Looks great! You must have a long hose to drag through your house!
Yes I do! 100 feet 😊
Red color lovers "rejoice" 👍👌😄😄❤ it's going to look beautiful
It better! 😂
This was funny! I can hear your enthusiasm with the plants you like, and not-so-enthusiastic with Michael’s plant choice. I knew you would pull it off to make it look beautiful. You’ve mentioned that you don’t care much for hostas, and Michael’s hosta bed is beautiful! It’s all so beautiful!
Haha, I am warming up to it 😊
❤❤❤
I really struggle to make red work - but there are some plants that are a must like Leucothoe particularly in late fall/winter given occasional deer in winter
Thank you Yuliya 💐💚🙃
I absolutely love red at any level. Pink is my least favourite, so it’s great that we all have different taste making gardens personal and beautiful for a variety of people likes. Thanks for sharing all your beautiful creations. 👍❤️🙂
My mom loves red also! Has gorgeous tuberous red begonias in her garden 😊
it's brave to break the routine. Just created a hot colored border which is not my traditional color scheme but I am more excited to see what becomes of this as anything else this year!
I have been experimenting with warm colors too!
Hi Yuliya! I don't really like red flowers either but Michael's window box turned out lovely😊. Sorry to hear about the heat wave🥵. We are soaking here in Germany making it more difficult to maintain the garden as well. Have a nice weekend! - Evita
thank you! it's been so hot, for so long!
Lovely choice of plants, looks beautiful. I love this window box 🥰
❤❤❤ RED in the Garden! I must be one if a few ... but who cares!?!! Usually mixed with White, or Purple, or Blackish flowers or Foliage.
Love that!
I love the way you love your plants !
It looks lovely! Goes well with your home’s black and white exterior. I’m glad you tried a red palette for a change.
This window box is going to be a classic!
That's what I thought!
Beautiful looking window box with great plant selections, they are the bees knees. Our highest temperatures here in Ireland for the coming week is seventy degrees which is good. I would not fancy the temperatures you guys are getting across the pond.
I am so jealous! in the high 30s and 40s Celcius here 🔥
Beautiful combination of reds and white. Interestingly, I decided to buy some red petunias today (a dark maroon color). When I got home and rested them on the pots, I was very pleased with the look. I also have some dichondra to cool the red down. Excited. Yay🎉
Do you have a hose in your house ? 😂😂.
I think the colour combo is beautiful and will shine in a couple weeks. You are so talented with your garden design and plantings, Love your videos !
Haha, I dragged it from downstairs 🙈
❤❤
Looks great and nice plant combo!
Red is my favorite color to Michael 😊
